Our programs follow an integrated and holistic approach. We believe that to work with children its highly important to work with their support systems. Our programs deeply work with them as well.
Counselling and Therapy
This includes individual counseling & therapy, group counseling and therapy. This is catered to different age groups like children, adolescents, youth, parents, teachers, staff of NGO’s/ remand homes etc.
The therapies we use are the blend of psycho- therapies and creative therapies (dance, drama, music, art, cinema therapy etc.). The counselling and therapy program is customized based on the needs assessment.
Open your Arms Foundation designs all the group sessions with a mix of psycho therapies and creative therapies like – dance, drama, music, art and cinema therapy.
Remedial Education
Remedial offered to children with different learning difficulties (Dyslexia, slow learners, ADHD etc) through basics and scholastic measures appropriate to their needs. After an in-depth understanding of the children, we prepare individualized education plan per child.
Workshops and Trainings
We conduct different workshops to address different through effective modes of communication. We also conduct trainings for teachers, parents, counselors, remedial educators, staff members, etc.
We conduct workshops on topics like – Safe touch and Unsafe touch, stress management, time management, awareness on mental health, awareness on counselling and therapy, awareness about learning difficulties, effects of internet, life skills, etc.
We conduct several trainings on different topics related to mental health, capacity building, self-healing etc. for the staff, parents, students, children, youth, adults, women, elders etc.
Pankh – Group Home
Our budding project started in 2021 is ‘PANKH’ - a group home maintained for the 18+ girls who have exited child-care institutions. The perspective of this project is to provide a platform to the young girls to prepare themselves before being left on their own in the competitive world.
The goal is to support the girls to complete their higher education and help them in acquiring their talent and career-based jobs. Our outlook is concentrated in guiding them to tactfully manage their studies, work and home chores concurrently.
By managing all the tasks, they learn budgeting, responsibility planning, rationing, self-dependence and at the same time being available as a family to other mates when the other is in need of any assistance.
OYA’S Changemakers
In 2022, we introduced an initiative called ‘OYA’s Changmakers’ consisting of our alumni with the concept of paying it forward; giving to the society what they received in their testing times.
Changemakers is a group consisting of 15 – 20 girls who have been a part of our counselling sessions when they were in our partner schools or resided in NGOs/child-care institutions. The girls have exited these respective organizations and are either living individually, are married or living in group homes.
The changemakers conduct different fun-based learning activities and life skill sessions in other NGOs and institutions. Their motto is to impart their learnings and experiences and pay it forward to the souls who crave for such affection. They also focus on giving a direction to the children and young population in their molding years.
